When we set out to chase the holy grail of guitar amplifiers, we never imagined the story would unfold the way it did. It took friendships, favors, connections, trips, and an outrageously expensive daily rental to get our hands on one of these.
 
But it was worth every single penny! The cutting Dumble tone isn’t just a guitarist’s myth – it’s real! And now we understand why so many famous guitarists refuse to part with it, both on stage and in the studio.
 
Maybe one day we’ll have the money to own one of these for personal use. Until then, we’ll settle for this capture pack, crafted with high fidelity in one of the best studios on the East Coast.
 
I truly believe we managed to encapsulate the tone and soul of this model, perhaps even more so than the creators of Tonex themselves. This capture set has a uniquely “lively” quality, especially in the upper-midrange – the exact spot where the Dumble’s tone becomes unmistakable.
 
P.S.: Here’s a tip when adjusting the captures for your setup: set the Tonex EQ to ‘Post’ to mimic the amp’s actual circuit. It’s no easy task to tame the Dumble’s highs, but that’s precisely what makes it so legendary and cutting in a band mix.
